NEW HAVEN, Conn. -

Police in New Haven, Conn., say they received a call saying someone was coming to Yale University with a gun to shoot up the school.

Police blocked off several downtown streets Monday and put the Ivy League school on lockdown as they searched for the potential gunman.

New Haven police Officer David Hartman says an anonymous caller told them his roommate had a gun and was heading to the campus.

He says at least two people reported seeing a man with a long gun in the area. Hartman says there was nothing specific about the threat. He says the call came from a pay telephone near the school.

There have been no reports of shots fired or anyone injured.

No arrests have been made.
