Salvation Army

Posted: Updated:
The Salvation Army is grateful to the many corporations and businesses that still open their doors to The Salvation Army and the Red Kettle Campaign at Christmas both nationally and locally.

Without red kettle donations and the businesses that allow bell ringers this time of year, we could not continue in "Doing the Most Good" for the hungry, homeless, hurting and helpless.

Thanks in large part to the funds raised through the Red Kettle Program, the following social services were provided to Greenville County residents in 2012:

Total Meals Served:       121,800
Total Number Served:        43,000
Total Number of Individuals Provided Food:      3,352
Total Number of Families Provided Energy Assistance:       377
Total Number of Nights of Lodging provided to Shelter   23,349
Success rate of Boys and Girls Club Smart Centers:         99%

Battle of the Bells is a competition designed for businesses, churches, schools, and other community organizations. Teams will compete to raise the highest total donations while ringing the bell at Salvation Army Red Kettle locations across Greenville County, SC on Saturday, December 7, 2013.
Eleven teams have committed to participating.

The top three teams will receive trophies at the Annual Christmas Luncheon on Thursday, December 12, 2013.

The Salvation Army is partnering with Walmart to Fill The Truck December 14th to collect toys and coats for local children.   We are grateful to Walmart for opening their stores to The Salvation Army and making a difference in the lives of our children.

The Salvation Army of Greenville will provide toys to over 4,000 children.  This represents an increase of 1,000 children.  We depend on the generosity of the community to meet this growing need.  Additional cities in our area will be assisting:
Spartanburg  830 families (2,300 angels)
Anderson   550 families (1,400 angels)
Asheville  950 families (2,000 angels)

Volunteers needed for all programs including the iconic Red Kettle Program, Angel Tree, and Distribution.
