SPARTANBURG, S.C. - A woman is resting at home Saturday after being shot in the neck while at an ATM in Spartanburg County.

Lieutenant Tony Ivey of the sheriff's office stated that deputies arrived on the scene of Best Buy's parking lot on W. Blackstock Road after receiving reports of a shooting just before 11 o'clock Friday night.

When deputies arrived, they were informed by one of the victims that while they were at a Bank of America ATM on West Blackstock Road, across from Westgate Mall, they were approached by two masked gunmen. According to Deputy Andrew Crisp, when the victims attempted to drive away, that is when the gunmen opened fire.

The female victim was shot in the neck area and is recovering and the other victim Kyle McDaniel tells 7 On Your Side she is doing well at home.

McDaniel said he and his friend were shopping on Black Friday and were visiting the ATM to deposit money back in to his account. He said he's used the ATM before and though it's off the road and near a wooded area, he's never had a problem in the past.

He admits he probably shouldn't have used the ATM after dark.

Experts said the safest was to use the ATM is in daylight in a busy area. You may also want to look for machines that use video surveillance. That will ensure someone who comes close enough to you at the ATM will be caught on video.

On Bank Of America's website they offer these tips and also recommend you do any paper work you need to fill out before or after your transaction, at home. Deputies say when you linger near am ATM you could increase your chances of being a target.

Authorities from both, the sheriff's office and Spartanburg Public Safety are currently searching for the suspects involved in Friday night's shooting. Police are asking that anyone with information please call 9-1-1.
