Organizers of #GivingTuesday say the idea is to give the community a chance to create and commit to a project that gives back during the holiday season.

There's a national movement to add another day to the holiday calendar.

#GivingTuesday comes after Thanksgiving, following Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

It's the second year for the event. Organizers say the idea is to give the community a chance to create and commit to a project that gives back.

According to the official web site, #GivingTuesday started from New York's 92nd Street Y.

There were more than 2500 recognized #GivingTuesday partners from all 50 states in 2012.

Dozens of people gathered Saturday afternoon to rally against the state's "Stand Your Ground," law, saying it amounts to "legal lynching." The group, Moms Demand Action, said the South Carolina law, first passed in 2006, causes gun violence and is exploited as a defense.
