SPARTANBURG, S.C. - FedEx is building a new distribution facility in Spartanburg County that will create over 200 jobs, according to our news coverage partners at the Spartanburg Herald-Journal.

According to the newspaper's report, FedEx Ground Package System Inc. is building a new 254,000-square-foot distribution facility on a 59-acre plot off of Falling Creek Road. The facility will represent a $40 million investment and is expected to create 22 full-time jobs and 219 part-time jobs.

The Herald-Journal reports that site plans filed with the county show the facility will be approximately 254,353 square feet and includes 350 parking spaces. The newspaper cites sources as saying that the facility will be one of the company's fully-automated small package distribution centers where vehicles will be able to drive right into the building to be loaded. It will be a state-of-the-art sorting and shipping equipment and is expected to begin operations in 2015.
