PICKENS COUNTY, SC -

Less than a day after the death of South Africa's prominent leader, Nelson Mandela, an "opinion" from an Upstate leader is causing quite the buzz.

President Barack Obama ordered flags to be flown at half-staff on all government buildings until Monday evening. However, Pickens County Sheriff, Rick Clark, is refusing to honor the order.

"This struck me in my opinion that to have the flag at half staff is for Americans who have sacrificed for their country and have served for their country and it's just a simple opinion and its what I thought" Clark said to 7 On Your Side Friday night.

Clark says that he will leave the flag at half-staff today and tomorrow, honoring a fallen officer as well as Pearl Harbor, and then flags will be raised again on Sunday.

One day before the president's order.
