OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. - Oconee County Deputies arrested Tammy Marie Knight Tuesday on an arson charge following a house fire in West Union.

A deputy was called out to 2358 Pickens Highway Monday night before midnight in reference to a structure fire. The deputy spoke to Knight, who said she set the building on fire because she wanted to get rid of a mattress inside. The deputy determined the building belonged to one of Knight's family members.

When firefighters put the fire out, they noticed three portable oxygen tanks inside, one of which exploded.

Deputies questioned Knight again. This time, they say Knight told them she bought the building at R&R Fabricators in Seneca and still owed money on the building. A deputy then arrested Knight and booked her into the Oconee County Detention Center. Deputies will see a warrant for arson charges Tuesday.
