SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Northwestern High's Mason Rudolph threw three touchdown passes to three area receivers, including a connection to Gaffney's Shaq Davidson for the game-winner with under :30 to play, Saturday afternoon to lead South Carolina to a 28-23 victory over North Carolina in the 77th annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas at Wofford's Gibbs Stadium.

The South Carolina team has won five of the past seven and two in a row.

Rudolph connected on first quarter scoring tosses of 33 and 21 yards to Chapman's Deebo Samuel and Byrnes' Shaedon Meadors and the Sandlapper team was up 14-0 at the half.

North Carolina rallied to take leads of 17-14 and 23-21 on the strength of three Elijah Hood rushing touchdowns. The North Carolina-bound Hood finished with 92 yards to lead all rushers. Daniel's Jae'lon Oglesby lead the SC squad on the ground with 57 rushing yards.

Following Hood's third touchdown and the blocked extra point that followed, Rudolph, who's committed to Oklahoma State, guided his team down field as, trailing by two points, they need simply to get in field goal range.

However, he found Davidson, who like his South Carolina teammate Samuel has committed to USC, in the back left corner of the endzone on a 21-yard connection.  Rudolph finished with 182 passing yards in the contest.
