Two Dead As Car Crashes Into Simpsonville Home, Others Injured

At least two people have died as a result of a wreck in Simpsonville Tuesday night. At least two people have died as a result of a wreck in Simpsonville Tuesday night.
SIMPSONVILLE, SC - A wreck in Simpsonville has killed two people and injured another.

The wreck happened on Hunters Woods Drive, just off of Fairview Road Tuesday evening around 10:30 p.m. Greenville County officials say a Chevy Trailblazer hit a mailbox on the right side of the road, over-corrected, and ran off the left side of the roadway. It then knocked down several trees, before overturning, and hitting a home.

The County Coroner's Office says 42-year-old Richard Benjamin Belew of Fountain Inn was ejected from the car and died at the scene. A second passenger, 21-year-old Shannon Leigh Hitt of Laurens, was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital, where she later died due to blunt force trauma of the head and chest.

    Anderson County Fire, HAZMAT, EMS and Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a powdery substance found in a mailbox in Iva Sunday. 
    According to the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, a call came in about a person locating a powder in a mailbox on Continent Road.Once crews arrived on scene, it was determined that the substance had no biological threat.
