Get Umbrellas Ready For Rainy Weekend

Posted: Updated:
Get ready for a wet weekend in the Upstate. Get ready for a wet weekend in the Upstate.
There will be a period of heavy rain over the weekend.

Storm Team 7's Judy Booker says Saturday will be partly sunny until later in the afternoon when the clouds will be on the increase and the rain will follow around sunset.

"Rain will overspread the area Saturday night, becoming heavy at times overnight. Rain will linger into Sunday morning, after which we will see the rain gradually move off to the northeast. This will allow for some clearing in the afternoon," said Booker.

A weak cold front then moves in on Monday. Moisture with this looks limited, but there may be enough for a stray light rain shower or snow shower in the mountains.  By evening, the northern Upstate may get a sprinkle or two, right now it looks dry farther south.  If the moisture lingers a little deeper into the night, we can not rule out an evening flurry in the northern Upstate, but that prospect is low right now.

New Year's Eve and New Year's Day should be quiet and cool.  Another storm system may affect the region by Thursday night.  This will bring a few showers; if the timing on this occurs more during Thursday night, the prospect for a few snow showers may appear.  Too early to call!
