LAURENS COUNTY, S.C. - Laurens County is moving forward with plans to rebuild the Ekom Beach Fire Station that burned last spring.

County council approved money to build on the site during Tuesday night's council meeting. The Laurens County Director of Fire Services says a contractor has already been selected and the rebuilding process will take about six months.

The building will cost about $336,000 with insurance covering about $322,000. County reserve funds will make up the difference.

Officials say response times have not been affected since the station burned.
