Oconee County Emergency Services Fire Chief Charles King says firefighters were called to a house fire Saturday in the South Union Community Saturday.

King says they got the call at 4:37 pm Saturday at 180 North Port Bass Road.

Firefighters arrived within 8 minutes and found a fire on one end of a double wide mobile home.

King says both people in the home got out safely and worked to bring the fire under control in about 20 minutes.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

King says the home did not have a working smoke detector and Red Cross was called to help out the two people who lived in the home.
