LAURENS COUNTY, S.C. -

The body found Sunday on Stallion Drive in Laurens County has been identified as that of Dorothy Madden, the woman who went missing in the area over the summer.

Laurens County Coroner Nick Nichols announced the identity Monday, however he says he was not able to determine the cause of death because the remains were skeletal. No knife or gunshot marks could be found on the bones.

Investigators say Madden’s purse was found off Stallion Drive near Pony Trail Saturday in a wooded area, which prompted a search. Cadaver dogs found her body around 2 p.m. Sunday.

This is the area where investigators say Madden was last seen.

Authorities are not considering any foul play in her death.
