North Carolina state corrections officers and McDowell County sheriff's deputies captured escaped inmate Anthony Riddle at 10:30 Wednesday morning in an apartment in Marion.   

Riddle walked away from Buncombe Correctional Center Tuesday night, a minimum-security state correctional facility in Asheville.

Riddle will face charges for escape from prison and will be returned to Mountain View Correctional Institution in Spruce Pine to resume serving his sentence.  

Charges are also expected against friends who aided Riddle in his escape.

North Carolina authorities are searching for an inmate who escaped from a minimum-security facility Tuesday night.

According to a spokesperson from the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Anthony Riddle, 27, was reported missing at 9 p.m. from the Buncombe County Correctional Center. Riddle, who is set for release in 2015, is serving a 2-4 year sentence for larceny and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Authorities say Riddle is from McDowell County and may be headed to the area. If anyone knows his whereabouts they are asked to contact local law enforcement of the Buncombe County Correctional Center at (828) 645-7630.
