NINETY SIX, S.C. -

A Ninety Six School District teacher has been arrested and accused of stealing cash and gift cards from the school.

Ninety Six Police tell us Heather Page, a teacher at Edgewood Middle School, is charged with financial card theft, petit larceny and criminally receiving goods and services fraudulently.

Investigators say school officials noticed some missing money and started an investigation. The district later turned the case over to police.

Authorities say between $500 and $600 was taken, along with $1,600 on approximately 25 gift cards.

Page, who has worked at the district for several years as an English and language arts teacher, was arrested Wednesday.

Superintendent Mark Petersen tells us Page is currently on administrative leave.
