EASLEY, S.C. - Pickens County Sheriff's investigators are trying to find out who killed a man at a home in Easley early Sunday morning.

Chief Deputy Creed Hashe of the sheriff's department said that deputies responded to a home on Devon Court at 3:45 Sunday morning after receiving a call about a shooting. When deputies arrived they found a man, 38-year-old Shane Williams, of the home, dead from gunshot wounds.

According to Hashe, Williams' wife and a small child were inside the residence and told deputies that they were awakened by sounds that appeared to be gunshots. Moments later they discovered Williams lying on the floor with no signs of forced entry.

Hashe said that no suspect has been identified in the case and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday. Neither Williams' wife or the child were injured, Hashe said.

If anyone has any information about the shooting they are asked to contact Pickens County Crimestoppers at 1-800-442-CRIME or 898-KOPS.

7 On Your Side Investigations uncovered new documents that detail a “politically sensitive” proposal for overhauling the Greenville County EMS system. The plan would change the way ambulances respond in a 9-1-1 emergency and would give control of the life-saving service to the county's largest hospital chain, Greenville Health System.
