GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. -
The Greenville County Sheriff's Office says they've arrested a Pelzer man in connection with the shooting of his wife.

Deputies say they arrested 46-year-old John Calvin Sledge, of Pelzer, and charged him with the murder of his wife, 51-year-old Kimberly Davis Sledge on Wednesday night. She was found on the floor of her home at 408 Berry Road late Wednesday night.
Greenville County Sheriff's Office deputies say the victim had at least one gunshot wound when they found her unresponsive at the home.

Deputies say they found John Sledge a short time later at a traffic stop on South Highway 25 and took him to the Law Enforcement Center to speak with investigators.

Thursday afternoon investigators charged Sledge with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

He's in the Greenville County Detention Center awaiting bond.

If convicted, deputies say John Sledge could face up to life in prison.
