Continuance Granted In Happy Hooves Pig Rescue Cruelty Case

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. -

The owners of Happy Hooves Pig Rescue in Greenville County appeared in court Friday morning.

Animal Control officers issued Jennifer and Jeremiah James multiple animal cruelty citations for abandoning dozens of pigs in December 2013.

Jennifer told the judge she wants to plead guilty, but wants an attorney.  A continuance of 30 days has been granted.

Officers found 42 pigs at their home on Preston Road near Pelzer without food or water.

Court records show the James family was being evicted.

The pigs left behind are now living at an animal rescue in McDonough, Georgia.
