Suspect Flees After Robbing Taxi Driver In Greenville

A taxi cab driver was robbed and a suspect fled in Greenville Thursday night. A taxi cab driver was robbed and a suspect fled in Greenville Thursday night.
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Greenville Police are investigating an armed robbery to a taxi driver Thursday night.

The robbery took place on Birnie Street, near Hanover Street and Queen Street, around 8:45 pm. According to a spokesman for the Greenville Police Department, the suspect was in the back of the taxi when he attempted to rob the driver. The driver then crashed the taxi into a home and the suspect fled from the scene. 

Police conducted a manhunt for the suspect but he was nowhere to be found. The unidentified driver of the taxi was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5'9" - to 6'2" tall. If anyone knows any information about the incident or the suspect they are asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 23-CRIME.
