Armed Robber Shot at Greenville Restaurant, Arrested

GREENVILLE, S.C. -
Greenville County deputies arrested a man who they say was shot while trying to rob a restaurant on East North Street Thursday night.

Calvin Jequan Benson, 22, was arrested after Spartanburg County deputies say he showed up at a hospital there with gunshot wounds.

Investigators say Benson was armed when he entered Wings on the Run around 10:00 p.m. and demanded money. A store employee grabbed a handgun kept at the business and started firing.
We're told Benson left, but was shot at least one time.
Spartanburg County deputies called Greenville investigators about an hour later to tell them a gunshot victim was at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Detectives determined Benson was the man who tried to hold up Wings on the Run. 
He was taken to the Greenville County Detention Center. Benson is charged with attempted armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
