Students from across Spartanburg County participated in the 4th annual "Spartanburg Sings" Saturday at Broome High School.

More than 120 students from 18 middle schools took part.

Dr. Terry Pruitt, Deputy Superintendent for Spartanburg School District Seven says it's a chance for the young people to show off their singing skills.

"They're amazing," he said. "They come together for about 8 hours of rehearsal time. We came together yesterday afternoon at 4:30 and rehearsed till 7:30 last night then back this morning at 9:30. They work very hard the entire weekend. They're great students! I think they're great role models for other students."

7 On Your Side's Diane Lee was the emcee of the event and sang the national anthem as well as other songs.

Proceeds from the event help benefit the Rotary Club of Spartanburg's at risk youth grants.
