Gov. Haley Says She'll Sign Gun Carry Bill

Posted: Updated:
South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley
South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley indicated Tuesday she will sign a bill allowing you to carry a gun into restaurants and bars.

But Haley wrote on her Facebook page that the bill hasn't been ratified by the legislature and sent to her desk.

The House approved the bill by a 90-18 vote in late January that would allow you to bring their gun into a restaurant or bar in South Carolina. Anyone carrying a weapon in those businesses isn't allowed to drink alcohol. Violators could face prison time, fines and having their permit revoked.

Restaurant and bar owners can refuse customers from carrying a weapon if a sign is posted on the door of the business.

Haley wrote on Facebook, "Once i receive it, i will sign it."

Our statehouse reporter Robert Kittle points out House and Senate lawmakers didn't meet last week in Columbia because of the winter storm that struck South Carolina.
