Spartanburg County Man Identified After Fatal Mill Fire

SPARTANBURG, S.C -

A Spartanburg County man is dead after an early morning fire in Spartanburg Saturday.

Jeffrey Todd Epps, 49, of Spartanburg died in the fire before multiple crews working several hours, could manage to stop the flames at the Old Grant Textile building.

According to Converse Fire Department's Chief Tim Jones, crews were called to the scene around 5 a.m. and worked to put out the fire that claimed the life of an unidentified man well after 9 a.m.

Jones said that the fire is believed to have been arson.

The exact cause of the fire is still being investigated, as is the identity of the victim.

The Cowpens and Drayton Fire Departments also responded to the scene.
