55K Remain Without Power In SC

Utilities across South Carolina are reporting about 55,000 customers are still without power nearly a week after a crippling ice storm. Utilities across South Carolina are reporting about 55,000 customers are still without power nearly a week after a crippling ice storm.
COLUMBIA, S.C. - Utilities across South Carolina are reporting about 55,000 customers are still without power nearly a week after a crippling ice storm.
 
Most of the outages are with six of the state's 20 electric cooperatives, which serve mostly rural areas. The co-ops reported about 45,000 customers without electricity at their last report Sunday evening.
 
Gov. Nikki Haley planned a conference call with the co-ops Monday to offer any help she can to get power back to everyone.
 
South Carolina Electric & Gas reported 10,000 outages Monday morning and Duke Energy was down to just 750 customers without power.
 
Most of the remaining outages are in Aiken, Clarendon, Florence, Georgetown and Williamsburg counties.
