Father of twins, Babak Forutanpour using Kickstarter to get AryaBall - a five-in-one kids' sport ball created to encourage outdoor play - to market

SAN DIEGO, Feb. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- A San Diego dad has invented a versatile, new children's toy in hopes of reigniting kids' interest in outdoor play. AryaBall, a convenient 5-in-1 sports ball and bat, enables kids to easily switch between a game of soccer, football, baseball, golf or flying disc without the use of additional equipment. After seeing his twins become consumed with electronic gadgets, Babak Forutanpour created the AryaBall prototype with a goal of enticing them to spend more time outdoors.

AryaBall's nested design includes the outer layer of a standard soccer ball, but when twisted open, a football is found perched inside. Upon opening the football, a "dimpled" baseball is revealed, which doubles as a golf ball and users will also find a flying disc. AryaBall also comes equipped with AryaBat, a baseball bat with a slide-out putter head to quickly transform into a golf club.

After seeing his own kids' response to his invention and the reaction of others, Forutanpour now hopes to bring AryaBall to the masses. He is running a Kickstarter campaign now through Friday, March 28, at 10:49 a.m. (EST) to gain funding for the project. Those interested in supporting and sharing the AryaBall Kickstarter campaign can find it at http://bit.ly/5in1ball.

If successfully funded, Forutanpour has a team of designers and engineers behind him who are ready to make AryaBall a reality.

"As a kid, I remember my mom yelling for me to come inside for dinner, and I would always shout back that I needed 5 more minutes," says Forutanpour. "Today, it's difficult to get kids to play outside at all. My hope is that the convenience and versatility of AryaBall will encourage kids and families to replace hours of screen time with more active, outdoor play."
