TAYLORS, S.C. -

Greenville County Sheriff's deputies are looking for a man who is wanted on several violent crimes following a three hour manhunt Wednesday afternoon.

According to a sheriff’s office spokesman, a deputy pulled over a white van on Highway 290, near Willis Road, near Travelers Rest around 4 pm. The driver of the van, 34-year-old Jody Dale Gossett, of Travelers Rest, jumped out and took off running and into a wooded area.

Sheriff's deputies, along with K-9 deputies and the sheriff's office helicopter searched the area until almost 7:30 p.m. but were unable to find Gossett, who has 17 warrants out for his arrest; among which are discharging a firearm into a dwelling, possession of a sawed off shotgun, possession of a sawed off rifle and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon.

Gossett is a white male, approximately 5'2" tall and weighs 119 pounds. He has blonde hair and blue eyes and was wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.
