NINETY SIX, S.C. - Ninety Six announced the return of Mike Doolittle as head football coach Thursday afternoon following a special meeting by the school board.

Doolittle will replaces Chris Liner, who left earlier this winter for the head coach's job at Laurens.

Doolittle has most recently worked as an assistant at Lincoln County High School in Georgia but maintained a home in Ninety Six.

Doolittle posted a 104-55 record during his first stint guiding Wildcats between 1994 and 2006.  He took his teams to three straight state title appearances between 1999 and 2001.  The Wildcats won the 1A state title in 2000 and 2001.

Doolittle left Ninety Six in 2007 to become an assistant at Gardner-Webb University.
