3 Puppies Stolen from Anderson Co. PAWS

Posted: Updated:
ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. -

Anderson County deputies are searching for a group of suspected dognappers.

Investigators have released surveillance pictures of four suspects, both male and female. They say the group walked into the Pets Are Worth Saving (PAWS) facility in Anderson on Wednesday afternoon. After spending several minutes in the canine section, deputies say they walked out with three puppies.

Deputies say the suspects didn't pay the pet adoption fee for the dogs and ignored PAWS staff members who had already promised one of the puppies to another individual.

The stolen dogs include a black and white Terrier/American Pit Bull mix, a black and white American Blue Tick/Heeler mix, and a black and white Border Collie/Retriever mix.

The suspects left in a white vehicle with a black hood. If anyone has any information that could help locate the stolen puppies, contact the Anderson County Sheriff's Office at (864) 260-4400 or Crime Stoppers at 888-CRIMESC (274-6372).

Though not connected to this case, there were two other unrelated dog thefts reported in Greenville County last week.

It brings attention to the fact that this type of theft occurs, and it may be smart to double check the confinement of your animals and to bring them inside if possible.

Greenville county had 27 animal theft reports in 2013 and 41 back in 2012.
