Deputies Search For Man Following Cherokee Co. Chase

Posted: Updated:
Cherokee County, S.C. - Cherokee County and Spartanburg County deputies are still searching for man after a chase on Interstate 85.

Investigators searched an area around Love Springs Road, near the Spartanburg County line.

K9 units were on scene, however deputies believe the suspect may have escaped the perimeter that was put in place.

Officials in Spartanburg County say the chase started after a deputy tried to pull over the vehicle for a traffic violation and the driver refused to stop.

Once at the county line, the chase was stopped and Cherokee County officials were notified.

Soon after, deputies there tried to stop the vehicle.  That's when they say the driver ran on foot.

Authorities are looking to find out who owns the vehicle to see if they can track down any leads.

The Cherokee County Sheriff said that the man left the area in another car and was taken to a gas station in Spartanburg County. After checking the gas station, deputies have not been able to find him.
