ASHEVILLE, N.C. - An Asheville High School student was attacked by a naked man near the school Thursday morning.

Police say it happened around 8 a.m. just off campus.

Timothy Leo Rogers, 21, is accused of escaping from Mission Hospital trauma unit where he was being treated for a stab wound.

Police say he attacked the male student.  As school staff and an Asheville Police Department school resource officer were trying to stop Rogers, a teacher and the SRO were bitten.

The male student was also injured, according to school officials, and was taken to the hospital.

Rogers was taken into custody and will be charged after he is released from the hospital.

No lockdown was put in place, but the incident did prompt authorities to close several lanes of McDowell Street.  The roadway has since reopened.
