Man Arrested After Escaping Bondsman, Prompting Greenville Co. Manhunt

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. - A man is under arrest after getting away from a bondsman in Greenville County Thursday, prompting a manhunt.

Darrell Scott Ellason was taken back into custody off Interstate 385 Friday morning after someone called in a tip.

The manhunt started after deputies say Ellason got away from the bondsman on East North Street.

Investigators say it happened behind Pete's near the Greenville County Detention Center.

They tell us Ellason was in custody and being transported to the detention center when he got out of the bondsman's vehicle and ran into a wooded area.  He was still handcuffed at the time.

Ellason has five active bench warrants for failure to appear and one active malicious damage warrant.

Several schools were placed on lockdown as a result.
