INMAN, S.C. - A man was injured and a woman was arrested after a stabbing in Spartanburg County Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened on Clark Road, near Inman, around 2 pm.

According to an incident report obtained from the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office, a deputy arrived at the home and found a man, identified as Jeffrey Burkett, 54, laying on the floor of the kitchen with a wound to his chest. The deputy managed to call for EMS and applied pressure with a towel to the wound until they arrived. Burkett was transported to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center due to his injuries

According to the report, the victim's girlfriend, 48-year-old Tamie Lynn Lawson, of Inman, texted her nephew that she had stabbed Burkett and needed help. Her nephew responded to the residence and contacted 911.

Lawson was taken into custody and subsequently charged with attempted murder. Preliminary indications were alcohol may have been a factor in the stabbing, Ivey said on Saturday.
