MADISON COUNTY, N.C. -
One of the main lodges at Wolf Laurel Resort in Madison County is destroyed after being engulfed in flames.

Deputy Fire Chief Will Willis of the Ebb Chapel Fire Department said the call came in around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday for a fire at the main lodge of the resort on Wolf Ridge Road.

When the fire department arrived on scene, they found the lodge fully engulfed in flames and partially collapsed. Nobody was inside at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

According to Willis, the entire building has been destroyed and no cause has been determined. The building was closed at the time.

Madison County Emergency Management says the fire department encountered issues while trying to reach the fire. They say the roads were covered with snow and ice. Firefighters had to use chains on the tires. They also had to call in road maintenance at one point to put salt down on the roadways.
