Multiple cars vandalized in Greenville overnight

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. - Some neighbors in the Tar River community, just north of ECU's campus, woke up to vandalized cars.
Police say, in all, five had been spray painted.

It’s of interest is because the homeowner targeted is one of the plaintiffs suing the city over the 4 unrelated rule.

Chris Mansfield lives on Harding Avenue and, this morning, he and his son's cars were among several spray painted.

Mansfield says he noticed the vandalism when he went outside to pick up the newspaper.
Five cars had been spray painted white.
Mansfield hopes it was drunken neighbors pulling a prank.
However, he's not ruling out other motives since he and other neighbors on the block are plaintiffs in a suit against Greenville over the 4 unrelated rule.

“I'm not making any claim that it is related,” said Chris Mansfield, who owns one of the vandalized cars. “I would have no evidence to prove that it is. But there is some coincidence in the fact that two of us on the block are plaintiffs in the suit against the city.”

The owners of the vehicles were able to scrub off the paint.
One man said he's grateful for that.
Police are investigating though.

In regards to the unrelated rule, the city is holding a hearing to overturn it and the overlay in place. That discussion is taking place next week.
