SALEM, SC - A body has been recovered in the search for a man reported missing in Oconee County.

Oconee County Fire Chief Charlie King said that a body was recovered from Lake Jocassee around 2:20 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Rescue crews from Oconee and Pickens counties responded to Devils Fork State Park at Lake Jocassee late Saturday morning to search for a man. King said that family members reported a man missing Friday, and his vehicle and dog were found at the state park Saturday morning.

According to King, Dive Teams from Oconee and Pickens counties were dispatched to the scene, along with Technical Rescue units who searched trails in the park. Approximately 50 rescue personnel were involved in the search.

The Oconee County Coroner's Office has ruled this a suicide. 7 On Your Side has a policy not to report suicides, but since we have reported on the search all day, and the amount of county resources involved, we wanted to bring you this development.
