Two arrested in Edenton attempted armed robbery

EDENTON, N.C. - Two men were arrested after a Saturday night attempted armed robbery.

Edenton Police say that on April 5th, at approximately 10:30 p.m. an attempted armed robbery happened at Famous Subs on North Broad Street in Edenton.

The suspect was described as a black male dressed in dark clothing, wearing a cloth mask, and carrying a handgun. Witnesses say the suspect got into a green Pontiac driven by a black male.

The Pontiac was last seen headed toward Highway 17. A Be on the Lookout was sent to surrounding agencies by Edenton police. At approximately 11:30 p.m. a possible suspect vehicle was stopped on Highway 17 near the Camden County line by Pasquotank County Deputies.

The vehicle was occupied by two men who matched the description given by witnesses in Edenton.

Officers from the Edenton Police Department responded to the car stop where both suspects were detained. A handgun that was used in the robbery was found after the vehicle was searched, and one suspect confessed.

Antoine Thomas, 23, was arrested and charged with Attempted Armed Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and was placed in the Chowan County Jail under a $75,000 bond.



David Sydnor, 24, was arrested and charged with Aiding and Abetting Attempted Armed Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. He was placed in the Chowan County Jail under a $50,000 bond.
