Leo Jenkins Cancer Center a award recipient and finalist for Livestrong grant

GREENVILLE, N.C. -
The Leo Jenkins Cancer Center in Greenville was awarded the Livestrong Foundation's Community Impact Project grant.

The Livestrong Foundation selected the hospital as a finalist for a $15,600 grant. The Leo Jenkins Cancer Center was one of 13 VitalHearts sites selected.

The center says they will implement a program that would help improve the lives of people affected by cancer; we’re talking about doctors and the caregivers assisting patients. Though the center is in Greenville, they say this will be for all in the East.

"It’s proven that when you have mentally healthy clinicians and caregivers, it heightens their cancer care or their ability to deal with the stresses of the job, so in turn, they're going to provide better care for the patients." Holly Parrott Hill said.
