Chocowinity man arrested in meth lab bust close to school

CHOCOWINITY, N.C. - Beaufort County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a man for manufacturing and distributing methamphetamine from a residence approximately 300 feet from Chocowinity Middle School.

Thomas Hardee is being charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine within 100 feet of a school, manufacturing methamphetamine maintaining a dwelling to facilitate a drug activity, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hardee is being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center with no bond.

The Beaufort County Sheriff's office said an investigator with the Pitt County Sheriff's Office Drug Unit assisted with executing the warrant. They said the investigation involved hours of surveillance and research into the pseudoephedrine tracking system, N-Plex.
