NORTH AUGUSTA, SC -

A North Augusta mom is in jail after a deadly shooting.

The shooting happened at the North Augusta Gardens Apartments on West Hugh Street, off Georgia Avenue.

Investigators say 20-year-old Terry Cook has been arrested and charged with murder. They say she shot and killed her husband, 21-year-old Dakota Cook.

Officers found Cook Tuesday morning with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Four children, all under the age of 4, were also found inside the home, unharmed.

The couple, who were married on Aug. 13, 2011, both worked at Waffle House, according to their Facebook profiles. Terry Cook graduated from Aiken High School, according to Facebook.

Dakota Cook was a graduate of North Augusta High School, his Facebook profile says.

"Public Safety contacted our victim advocate who works with us and is trained to deal with situations like this. She is here just comforting the children and keeping them occupied until they are released to the grandparents,"said Lieutenant Tim Thornton, of the North Augusta Department of Public Safety.

Investigators say the shooting appears to be the result of an ongoing domestic dispute.

Mrs. Cook is also facing 4 counts of Unlawful Neglect of a Child, and one count of Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime.
