Mission Health Asks For Patient Feedback

ASHEVILLE, N.C. -

People reveal all sorts of things online.

Look at Facebook – it has billions of users with valuable opinions.

Mission Health recently launched a new site where patients can share their experience at the hospital.

The Mission Health Patient and Family Forum is where people can ask questions, comment to others… and yes, even criticize the administration.

“Healthcare should not be intimidating, but unfortunately, I think it is for some,” said Dr. William Maples, Sr. Vice President and Chief Quality Officer.

Officials are hoping the new site will get people talking and help them better understand what patients actually go through while receiving care at Mission.

What makes the forum different than others is it comes equipped with a moderator that will help engage users.

“That is not bad if they are interested in finding out what people think,” says John Posten who lives in Asheville.

The discussion will be on-going for the next three weeks. A group of participants will then be invited to come up with a list of ideas to present to the hospital’s decision-makers.

“I think it is very noble of them to put themselves out there,” says Asheville resident Stan Glickman

The end result? Maples says better healthcare. And that is something worth talking about.
