PICKENS, SC - A man is dead and another man is in custody after an early morning shooting in Pickens County.

Chief Deputy Creed Hashe of the Pickens County Sheriff's Office said that Justin Douglas O'Bryant, 26, of Sunset, was taken into custody near the Wal-Mart in Central around 8 a.m. Saturday and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

According to Hashe, deputies responded to 120 Hannah Road around 2:40 a.m. after receiving a call that someone had been shot at the home. Once deputies arrived at the scene, they found 38-year-old Michael Shane Collins dead outside of the home from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Hashe stated that early indications are the two men became involved in an altercation when the shooting happened, and O'Bryant fled the scene before deputies arrived. O'Bryant will be transported to the Pickens County Detention center where he will await a court appearance.
