SPARTANBURG, S.C - A man from Inman after he dragged another man during a hit-and-run wreck in downtown Spartanburg Friday night.

Spartanburg Public Safety officers arrested Dustin Reid, 29, and charged him with reckless driving, driving under the influence, aggravated assault, hit-and-run and operating an uninsured vehicle.

According to a report obtained from Public Safety, an officer had pulled over a vehicle in the parking lot of the Marriot in downtown Spartanburg when he heard a wreck just a short distance away. When the officer went to check on the wreck, he said that the driver of a Cadillac, identified as Reid, had struck a van and was trying to leave the scene of the wreck as a man was running alongside his car.

The officer stated that he ran after the vehicle and yelled for nearby officers to stop it. Another officer managed to catch up with the car on North Church Street and attempted to pull it over. However, the report states that Reid almost struck another vehicle and ran the red light at the intersection of North Church Street and Daniel Morgan Avenue and sped toward Asheville Highway.

The officer called off the pursuit fearing safety issues. A short time later they were notified that the car had crashed on Asheville Highway, near Hearon Circle, and Reid was being transported to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. The officer stated in his report that he arrived at the hospital to issue a citation for Reckless Driving when he overheard Reid state that he did not know how he got there.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

Reid is currently being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
