Fifty cooks brought the heat to downtown Belton Saturday for the 5th annual South Carolina Chili Cook-Off Championship.

The event featured the best in International Chili Society Cooks.

The $25,000 prize money is a big draw for this event.

New to this year's event was a hot chili eating contest featuring the world's hottest pepper.

The proceeds for the cook-off go to non-profit organizations - including the Belton Interfaith Ministries, the Belton Area Museum and the Belton Center For the Arts.

The winners this year:

The Local People's Choice: Steve Lusk of Chiquola Baptist Church
The International Chili Society's Choice: "Mississippi Gang"
Salsa: Jim Lewis of Mississippi
Chili Verde: Don Steuwe of Tampa
Red Chili: Dave Violette of Roanoke
