One Dead, Four Injured In Anderson Co. Crash

ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. -

Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly wreck in Anderson County.

Troopers tell 7 On Your Side two vehicles were involved in a deadly wreck on U.S. 76 in Anderson County, just before midnight.

Highway Patrol reports the driver and a passenger in a Dodge pick-up were transported to An-Med with injuries.

Troopers say a 45-year-old woman from Seneca was the second passenger in the Dodge, and she was also transported to An-Med and later died from her injuries.

Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore says the woman was identified as Frances Elaine Smith. 

Shore says Smith died of blunt force trauma to the chest, head and stomach.

The Dodge collided with a marked Anderson County Sheriff's Office Ford Crown Victoria carrying two people. The passenger and driver of the second vehicle were also injured.

Lt. Sheila Cole with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office says an Anderson County deputy and a reserve officer were inside that Ford Crown Victoria.

Cole says both has non-life threatening injuries.
