According to a Sarasota Police Department report officers were dispatched to a home in the 1700 block of 29th St. in response to a domestic battery/burglary call. Investigators say Weeks had broken into the home of her ex-boyfriend and was attempting to flee.

As officers arrived Weeks jumped into a vehicle and sped away. The officers chased the car on foot to keep visual contact on the suspect as she fled north on Maple Ave. A few seconds later Weeks’ vehicle veered into a residence located at 1728 32nd St.

The car went through a side wall of the structure and into the bedroom where Ball was sleeping. In addition to the vehicular homicide charge Weeks will also be facing two counts of battery, one count of burglary and one count of obstruction.

Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
