Spartanburg Spring Fling Underway

SPARTANBURG, S.C -

The 36th annual Spring Fling is already underway.

Police put up road blocks around the downtown area starting at 3am on Friday.

Street closings are as follows:

-Church St from St. John St to Kennedy St

-Main St from Daniel Morgan Ave to Converse St

-Broad St from Daniel Morgan Ave to Converse St

-Dunbar St from Magnolia St to Liberty St

-Liberty St from Kennedy Parking Garage to Dunbar St

There will be access to all downtown parking garages.

These streets will be closed until Sunday at midnight.

Police will also be out in full force for the festival.

They will have a 911 command center set up in the festival.

Extra emergency personnel and police officers will be on site.

The event is free but police are asking several things not to be brought into the festival. No dogs, cigarettes, or coolers. Police are also asking for you not to bring any backpacks.

Police say the biggest issue every year is missing or lost children.

They would like you to take a photo of your child as soon as you get to the festival.

This way if your child goes missing, they can send that photo out immediately to all emergency personnel on site to locate your child faster.
