Couple found dead in Morrisville home

MORRISVILLE, N.C. -

A husband and wife were found dead Monday in an upscale neighborhood in Morrisville, shocking a quiet street and sending family members scrambling to get the couple’s three children at school with the devastating news.

Found dead were Melissa and Jonathan Preston at their home on Weaver Forest Way.

Morrisville Police said the call came in at approximately 8:51 a.m. by "someone inside the home." When police arrived at the home they found the Prestons dead.

Their three children – two boys and a girl, who are all teenagers – were in the school at the time and were in the care of family members Monday afternoon.

Capt. Felecia Sykes, the acting police chief in Morrisville, said there is no apparent motive for the shootings and the police know of no argument before the shooting. The shooting was reported by a house guest.

Both Prestons were dead by the time police arrived.

Police did not release details on a weapon or where the bodies were discovered.

Neighbors said they were shocked and stunned by the events. Sumil Nigan, a next-door neighbor, called it “heartbreaking."

And another neighbor, Hat Atwall, said he helped Jonathan Preston fix his lawn mower Sunday and there was no sign anything was wrong.

The neighbors said they didn’t remember hearing them argue and that they appeared to be a happy couple.

They said Jonathan Preston worked at Microsoft and Melissa had been associated with a jewelry business called RockHill designs. Jonathan Preston's LinkedIn profile listed him as a data center program manager for Microsoft.
