Map Shows Active Hate Groups In SC, NC

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Southern Poverty Law Center has created a map showing, what they call, active hate groups in the United States.

The organization’s interactive map breaks down the groups by state.

Across the nation in 2013, SPLC reports 939 active hate groups.  South Carolina had 20 active groups, while North Carolina had 33, according to the website.

The organization says only organizations and their chapters known to be active during the year were included in the report.  The list was compiled using hate group publications and websites, citizen and law enforcement reports, field sources and news reports.
