Teen charged with provisional DWI in fatal I-40 wreck

RALEIGH, N.C. -

Raleigh police are investigating a car crash that killed one and injured two Thursday evening on Interstate 40.

Police said 18-year-old Anastasiya Katherine Bergeron of Bunnlevel was traveling eastbound on I-40 when she lost control of a 2001 Toyota sedan around 4:45 p.m. in between Wade Avenue and Chapel Hill Road.

The vehicle veered off the side of the road and hit a tree to the right of the interstate, police said.

The vehicle belonged to 20-year-old Chase Morgan Rodgers, according to the wreck report. Rodgers was the right front passenger and died at the scene.

Bergeron and Christian Michael Miller, 17, of Cary, were taken to WakeMed with serious injuries.

Bergeron has been charged with provisional DWI. According to the Raleigh Police wreck report, the police tested Bergeron for other substances.The results of that test were still pending.
