A Tennessee bride who attached her newborn to the back of her wedding gown during her wedding ceremony is defending her decision, after a photo of the baby went viral.

Shona Carter and Jonathon Brooks were married on May 12, according to Shona Carter-Brooks’ Facebook page.

The controversial photo shows Carter and Brooks walking to the alter. Carter is wearing a ruffled wedding gown. Her 1-month-old daughter Aubrey is attached to the train of the gown, according to Yahoo Shine.

Carter-Brooks’ took to Facebook to defend herself after multiple media outlets posted the wedding photo

“People questioning what we do, commenting all negative, and just doing the most. We good though we covered by the Blood which never loose its power. So to the media, radio, news, and whomever else wanting to talk about what WE do here you go: Media Media I see how it works regardless the situation or purpose people gone have something negative to say! The answer is we do what we want when we want long as Jesus on our side everything worked out fine and gone continue to be fine. Our 1 month old was awake and well secured on my train. Most important while yall got ya feelings in us we had our hearts in Christ which covers all!! So keep ya mouths running for it was just that Exclusive and Epic enough we made top blog way from small town Ripley, TN and the social media doing what they do, TALK!!!! Who paid yall for yall comments, none so watch us as we do us! Too bless for mess!! Thank God we aint no celebrities oops got fans, guess we is! Sign off Mr & Mrs Brooks!!,” she wrote.

The couple’s wedding coordinator, Kaye Jordan, also defended their actions on Facebook.

“A GOOD mother takes her child wherever she goes, even down the aisle. Oh, and by the way, the event was the couple's SECOND wedding, not the first. This was simply the culmination of a dream deferred!

Find the individuals blowing smoke into the face of an infant or those allowing children to hold weapons, and, let us not forget the child arguing with his mother while calling her by her first name! Most of the comments are from individuals who do not know, nor will ever meet this couple.

I happen to know them both. In fact, for the gentleman who believed that the coordinator needs her butt beat, I was the coordinator and I remain intact! The wedding was beautiful, the decorations both beautiful and unique (I did those too). and the entire event and day was flawless!

Too bad those with negative comments have so little to do that they indulge in making disparaging comments about people you don't know! Could it be that you have nothing in your lives to occupy your time and space?

Taking a picture from a beautiful, God sanctified event and turning it into a media circus is despicable. Why not find another activity to waste your time on? Leave these two alone, and THAT was directly from my heart!,” wrote Jordan.
